Job Description
The RDS performs patient assessments to determine the patient’s respiratory care needs based on specific clinical treatment protocols. The RDS acts as a liaison to physicians and discharge planners to ensure proper length of stay. Provides in servicing to physicians, nurses, patients and various health care professionals on various topics and provides comprehensive and accurate education per Respiratory Case Management Program to the patients.
The Respiratory Disease Specialist (RDS) provides comprehensive education to patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Qualifications
AS degree in Respiratory Care from an approved Respiratory Care program, accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
Expert knowledge of clinical respiratory care assessment and the selection and application of Adult Critical Care
Extensive experience in planning and conducting in-service, competencies, education content and training
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Licensed by the State of California Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) Completion of COPD Case Manager Training.
Credentialed as a COPD Educator via the AARC course within three months of hire.
Credentialed as an Asthma Educator (AE-C) with-in 6 months post hire.
Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Salary Range:
$65.87 - $85.83 USD Hourly
