Job Description

Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to promote optimum patient rehabilitation. Provides Speech- Language Pathology services as defined by the California Speech-Language Pathology Practice Act, applying the principles, methods, and procedures for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of disorders of speech, voice, cognition, language, and swallow.

 

  • Additionally, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide Speech Language Pathology services within an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards.
  • This individual will demonstrate accountability for, and contribution to, the Department’s daily operations, including fulfilling charge duties as requested.
  • The SLP will demonstrate proficiency in the performance and interpretation of videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS), also known as modified barium swallow studies (MBSS).
  • Inpatient SLP providers must also demonstrate proficiency in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES), as determined by formal sign-off by a qualified individual who can attest to the provider’s competency.
  • Exhibit fiscal responsibility through accurate time-keeping of assigned work shifts (which includes compliance with management-designated start/end times).
  • Participate in program development and quality improvement activities as requested by management
  • Adhere to the Department’s established productivity standards.

  • Position is enterprise-wide, employees will be required to float between campuses.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of Accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program; Masters Degree required  
  • For Outpatient SLPs: Demonstrated proficiency in video swallow studies (VFSS/MBSS) within six (6)months of hire
  • For Inpatient SLPs: Demonstrated proficiency in both VFSS/MBSS six (6) months and FEES within one (1) year of hire

 

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

  • Current valid California Speech-Language Pathology license
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence OR a clinical fellowship under supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist on staff who has a Certificate of Clinical Competence as required by the State of California
  • Current BLS (Basic Lifesaving Certification - American Heart Association) for Healthcare Provider
  • Valid California drivers license and proof of automobile insurance
  • CCS-Paneled or in process if working in NICU/OP Pediatrics

This position can serve the following age groups: neonate/child (0-3), child (4-12), adolescent (13-17), adult (18-64), and older adult (65+).

 

Salary Range:

$57.75 - $86.62 USD Hourly
